I'm so sorry that they felt uncomfortable talking about breastfeeding. As you know, breastfeeding is quite a cultural issue.
I'm sure the boyfriend just hasn't been exposed (no pun intended) to the subject, much less talking about bf his girlfriend
to 2 yrs old.

I'm suggesting that you followup up with them, not with the legal statutes (which might sound "holier than thou") but from
a feelings standpoint.

Can you perhaps talk to them soon via Skype or on speakerphone (if you are no longer in California), in a private setting, just to
relate how you realize that not everyone is totally comfortable talking about bf, but that you are 100% comfortable with bf, that you
help other mothers, that you were so so worried about your daughter when you adopted her, how you are so happy she's become
such a well-adjusted person, etc. And that you attribute so much of that to the way you mothered her thru bf. That it was a great
effort and committment on your part to mother your dtr this way and that you take great pride in it. I am sure they will see things
in a much different light.
