Me too Rachael!
And I've been thinking that this is a much under discussed subject and
probably worthy of a discussion paper or two or book chapter or conference
debate.

Subject: liking or not liking breastfeeding

Just checked back to see how this thread is going, and must thank all who
have posted to it so far, and encourage others who may be restraining
themselves from joining in, to DO SO. Thanks, Georgia, for your
clarification on motherliness and humanity, I agree but must find a way of
putting it that doesn't sound excluding to me. Thanks, Jacqui, for your
post which as usual made me laugh and cry and re-think things and be brave
enough to encourage someone who may be hearing from everyone else that she
can just stop, it doesn't matter, when it really does matter, to her and her
family more than anyone.
This kind of discussion is what keeps me going on Lactnet, when we can get
engaged and passionate and hear different views without getting ruffled or
offended. I so appreciate the safety and cordiality of the discourse, which
is analagous to the safety I try to establish for mothers to talk about
whatever problems they may be having with feeding, analogous as well to the
safety I hope they can give their children. We're at our best when we treat
each other the way we want women treated, which is to say when we take each
other seriously and respect each other.
Good night all,
Rachel, on her way to bed in Kristiansand, Norway
