Hi Lactnetters!
I have another Zoloft question to add to the tons I've already weeded
through in the archives. Hopefully someone here might have some
information for me.

A mom I am helping is planning a pregnancy and is currently on Zoloft.
She already has a small child and suffered with prenatal depression
(untreated), postpartum depression for months (eventually treated with
Zoloft) and eventually weaned in hopes that it might help her depression
(it did, in her opinion). She is still currently on Zoloft and is having
trouble finding information about it's safety during pregnancy. It sounds
like her goal is to have a depression-free pregnancy and to actually be
able to *enjoy* breastfeeding her next child, but she also wants
consistency with her medication. She is questioning her psychiatrist's
opinion on all of this, so has begun researching herself. She is aware
that Zoloft is the drug of choice during lactation, but has not been able
to find *any* information on it's safety during pregnancy. She *has* read
that Prozac is the drug of choice during pregnancy, but knows it isn't
suggested for use during lactation. She does not want to switch back and
forth, especially right after she gives birth and is in such a vulnerable
position, hormonally.

Any experiences or insight into this? Mom is trying to gather information
to present to her psychiatrist in hopes that they can make a "plan" that
will benefit all involved, but especially the unborn baby-to-be.

TIA,
Nicki Clark
