Looking for anyone who has assisted a breastfed baby with this condition -
panhypopituitarism.
He is currently an inpatient at our Children's Hospital - on continual breastmilk
feeds via NG tube. He has had seizures due to hypoglycemia - controled with
continual feeds and medications. Mom offers breast q 2-3 hrs, however, due
to stridor, baby not tranferring much at breast (using pre and post weights).
The plan is to continue to decrease rate of continual breastmilk feeds, in
hopes that breastfeeding will improve. No bottles, to date.
I want to discuss realistic breastfeeding goals with mom, but, this is
unchartered territory for me.
Any advice would be appreciated.
thanks,
Becky Lyons, LD, IBCLC
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta
