I know this is a little late for the discussion but I am a little more than
irked.
If lactnet had started as a strictly *professional* list perhaps the
complaints were well founded. However, as I understand it Lactnet is a forum
(Webster: an assembly for the discussion of public matters) for lactation
consultants and interested parties. The stories here and names for
breastfeeding aren't dribble-- excess sometimes-- but certainly valuable.
Learning how to handle difficult situations is especially beneficial even if
the information the netters share is anectdotal. I for one hope that it
doesn't change. Their support means a great deal to me. Some of the netters
have no other access to lactation consultants to commisurate with.
This is not another love it or leave it message. If you have 60 plus messages
on your e-mail from this list, then consider going to the digest option. I
recieve about 3 or 4 digests per day, all nicely indexed at the begining of
each digest. I save what I want and discard the rest.
