My last post for the day, I promise!

I have a friend who is a LLLL in Moscow and needs some advice. A mother
she is helping has a nursing two-year-old who was recently diagnosed
with a parasite (Blastocystitis Hominous--this is how it sounds, no one
can seem to tell me the actual spelling). Child has been treated and
may or may not be cured (mother is having a difficult time getting
decent medical care). The problem is that ever since this episode the
child, who was once a good eater, refuses to do anything but nurse and
eat a few bananas. Mother feels that he may not be well and that she
should continue to nurse and possibly come back to US for better medical
care. Father and Drs., however, say that she should immediately stop
nursing to "force" him to start eating appropriately. Has anyone had
experience with a child this age who will only breastfeed and/or with
this parasite? Thanks!
