I have been reading all of the Ferber Posts with great interest as I
tried this method about 7 years ago with my "high need" son . This baby
nursed every 2 hours or more around the clock until when he reached 8
months old , I took him to the pediatrician for a routine check , and I
was EXHAUSTED. I was at the point that if something didn't change I was
truly afraid that I may hurt him.... The ped told me he would continue
to wake and nurse this way as long as I let him, I didn't mind it in the
day time , but I needed some sleep, so a friend told me about the Ferber
book and we tried it, and it was sheer hell for me, I WOULD NOT do it
again and DO NOT recommend it to others. It took 2 nights and the third
night he slept all nite and has ever since unless he is sick. I am not
proud of doing it , but its hard to judge others till you have walked in
their shoes..... I only wish I knew then what I know now , but as Dr
Jack once said " You only know what you know at the time" and at that
time I didn't know much and Im still learning now.
