I too would like to see a new term for formula. However I don't favor the use
of *abm* for the general public as it is too innocuous sounding. Even *breast
milk substitute* sounds too much as though this is an equal substitute. I'd
really like to see a term used that makes it clear that there is a REAL
difference between the product for sale and breast milk. It may be hard for
us to imagine but the general public really does think of breast milk and
formula as equals. In the baby food cookbook Feed Me, I'm Yours author Vicki
Lansky refers to breast milk and formula as "two sides of the same coin,
enriched milk" (ARRRGH!) Unfortunately most mainstream folk would agree with
her. My vote goes for *artificial baby milk*.
