After the recent story about a mum at an area YMCA being asked to
stop mursing her toddler, I thought some of you might be interested
to hear about another local case. A mother at a local pool began
nursing her 9 month old in the hot tub and was told to stop
breastfeeding because there was no food or drink allowed in the
pool. Both the lifeguard and the aquatic director asked her to stop
and go to the change room. The mother refused.

She sounds quite spunky for a 25 year old. It is a shame that this
had to happen to her. She said the incident was "very humiliating".

The good news is the adminstration backed up the mum and said that
breastfeeding is allowed. This official says he intends to write an
apology to the mum and see that this pool, and the other city pools,
are aware that breastfeeding is allowed.
