Can we please call these "gifts" what they are ? They are marketing
tools, not gifts and not in any way harmless. I do not think an HCP
is absolved of responsibility b/c she does not "think about it" as
such. Betsy writes:

I am really not interested in "fairness" to people who behave
ignorantly. I am interested in human health. I am interested in
fairness to babies. This is the way that we allow these actions to
continue and they must stop!

I have to admit that this comment blew me away!! More energy to help
mothers breastfeed? How about more of a feeling of good will toward
the AIM reps! Remember those feelings of good-will (oxytocin-induced)
when folks break bread together?

It is indeed his job. But, he took a job that has absolutely no
ethics behind it. Everyone chooses how they make a living. This is a
job that should die a natural death, due to its complete
ineffectiveness. Then he can just go find some honorable work
somewhere. I am just stunned that anyone in this profession can
justify this kind of behavior! It isn't as if we don't have proof,
contrary to how immune anyone thinks they are, that this behavior
does indeed affect attitudes and decision=-making.

"Umm...and this would be his job as well. This is not b/c he is kind-
hearted--this is b/c he is well-trained to solicit positive feelings
from HCPs who ought to be booting his butt out the door!!!

Oh, my, this is so very frustrating....
