Dear wise and more experienced ones,

Permission to post: Mother to 2nd baby boy, now 10 mos. old. Last month,
January, her cycle came back, and a "few days before the period, baby had
his first seizure, with another one the day after the period stopped". The
same pattern happened with this month's period, with a couple of small ones
in between, which mom attributes to new paint in the house triggering it.
(They live in a new build, no probable lead in paint that little guy could have
ingested). Even with the two unrelated episodes, mom is concerned that her
hormonal fluctuations could be passing through her milk in significant
quantities to trigger baby's seizures. So, there is the question - I have done
a fairly exhaustive search for any studies on this one, but have come up dry.
Has anyone ever come across this?

Upon further questioning i did discover that; baby was full-term, mom has
always faithfully taken her pre-natals, still does; however, does not
supplement w/vit. D and baby's vit. D levels have not been checked. Both
mom and baby are olive complexion, and we live in the very cold and dreary
inland NorthWest United States. Was just a thought...although i can't imagine
other signs of rickets going undetected by his peds.

Testing has been done with all normal outcomes - CT scan, MRI, EET, chest x-
ray, baby has no infections, not diabetic.

Baby has not received any vaccinations.

Cats/cat litter boxes are in the house, mom suggests possible exposure during
pregnancy, for what it's worth.. i want more research on that 'out of the box'
theory!

Baby is normal by all accounts according to mom, and on solids for the last
few months.

I realize i sound like i'm all over the map on this one, but like to consider
coincidences before locking in on blaming breastmilk. But, i am intrigued by
her question, and have very little experience with epilepsy in my clientele.

Any insights are greatly appreciated! Mom is dreading next month's cycle!

Thanks,
