Check the archives for really good discussion on this topic. Not to re-hash,
but I truly must agree with Natalie's observation that if a good piston
operated pump isn't moving milk, then the baby won't move it either. I've
had good results with the Flexishield insert (Ameda/Egnell) as it soft and
flexible. Medela now has a silicone flange that may work just as well, I've
just not had the opportunity to use it on an engorged breast yet. Use of
cabbage or cold packs is essential to reduce the swelling as Patricia has
mentioned. Also be sure to cover the entire breast (except the nipple of
course) and I suggest some Ibuprofen as an anti-inflammatory if not
contraindicated.Don't forget Pat Gima's rescue remedy idea for let down and
Jan may be the queen of cabbage but I think I might qualify for the title
"princess of cabbage" of the southwest suburbs.

kitchen table and passed it with 100%!
