by law, medical professionals, and any person involved in the welfare of
children, are required to report concerns.  not to get anyone in trouble,
but to allow the professionals the assess and decide what is in the best
intrest of the child.  if a report is not made, and something happens, you
can be charged with a crime.  maybe i have a unusual relationship with our
local CPS, but i feel very confident that a lot of care and thought is
behind the decisions made.  in my area, CPS will help a family in any way
possible to stay together, even transport to MD appt.  and especially in
educating parents.
