Karen,
        In response to your questions:
1. In our NICU, we have moms pump into the sterile water bottles
provided by the formula companies.
2. Milk is stored in these glass bottles, or if mom has an abundant
supply, we use glass mason jars. Our hospital operates a milk bank (as
you know!!) and we use glass mason jars for donor milk as well.
3. We supply moms with the Medela Universal Kit and instruct her to
follow the directions for sterilization as outlined in the book..ie,
boiling the parts that come in contact with the milk for twenty
minutes. She is to do this once every twenty four hours. If she is an
inpatient, our milk bank technician will sterilize it for her in the
dishwasher or autoclave.
4. We encourage moms to pump at least eight times in twenty four hours.

    Hope this information helps!
