I am a graduate student in Early Intervention at the University of Southern
Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. I am a former WIC lactation specialist and
I am currently tandem nursing my 18 month old and my three year old.
My Infant Development instructor has invited me to lecture in her
undergraduate class about breastfeeding. I am developing a 50 minute multi-
media presentation for this purpose. There are about 80 students in the
class. My experience as a breastfeeding helper here in Mississippi has
shown me that one major local barrier to breastfeeding here is the
perception that nursing is "gross/ugly/immodest/indecent" I would like to
counter this by ending my presentation with a music-video presentation of
beautiful images of modestly nursing mothers and their babies-- set to
Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely?"
I could use stock photos for this purpose, but I would rather have
snapshots of ordinary "real" mothers and babies. I do not want to violate
anyone's privacy or copyrights, so I need mothers to email their own
photos, or at least e-mail me their consent.
I especially need photos of women of color, so that my presentation can
represent breastfeeding in all communities.
If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. My email address is:
