Let's not forget that different groups may have different interpretations of the same word, even in the same country/language.

When teaching a peer counselor group (African American, church-based) someone used the word "greedy" I asked what they meant by "greedy"...

"He knows what he wants"
"He goes for it"
"He's sure of what to do to get what he needs"

...which didn't sound bad to me, I WANT a breastfeeding baby to be "greedy" this way!

...so I've learned that before changing/correcting a word used by someone else - it may be helpful to ask "what do you mean by ___?"
