It helps me a lot and to help you understand my prior questionning, I will 
tell you more about "our" article:

Sorry it took me so much time to re-post, but I had transported my computer 
in the dining room to attend the GOLD08 and my children took my working 
table for a kind of battle field; retrieving the french artical was pretty 
hard.

So it was printed in a french pediatrician journal in decembre 2006.
"exclusiv breastfeeding beyond 9 months does not protect from atopic 
dermatitis"

The author of the article, a physician firstly reminds that it is said BF 
est the best nourrishment source, protecting against numerous infectious 
diseases, obesity and some chronic allergic disease like asthma; thus some 
studies have shown the contrary : benefits at the right begining of life 
then bad effects on the child's health with rising of allergy on the long 
term! .....

EBF does not protect against allergies, on the contrary it makes higher the 
risk of atopic dermatitis and food allergies by children who have allergic 
history in the family.
more: thoses exclusively BF during 6 to 9 months WERE lacking iron and had a 
slower growth...
It is really reminded all the researches which demonstrated that BF was not 
good for limiting risks of allergies and so on.....

In the article:
we do not know if the moms excluded allergic nutrients from their diet...
we do not know that it seems not worth prolonging Exclusiv BF too long
It is really: it is not worth EBF AT ALL!

This article is really against EBF and BF.

French opinion is really adapted to our situation: women try to breastfeed, 
most do not exclusively breastfeed at the hospital nore back to home, they 
stop breastfeeding very early (return to work is a problem, but the mothers 
suffer so much of sore nipples or low milk supply that at the end, most of 
them stopped by 6 weeks); more moms try to BF, more try EBF, more try BF and 
work, more BF toddlers; but the rates are still low;

And that kind of article in professionnal pediatrician journal is mainly 
encouraging: "dear collegue physician, continue to do like you did until 
today do not involve yourself in helping breastfeeding moms! do not even 
continue to thinking of training in BF and management of lactation, it is 
not worth, continue with ABM supplements without any fear.... continue to 
support ABM, ... because EBF does not protect...."

French opinion is like this: if there is a study showing benefits of EBF or 
BF simply, it is really quickly "cut"; but find me a research showing BF is 
dangerous, and we hear about BF on all media during one month!

Well, you all gave me strong elements, as well as: the definitions of EBF, 
as well as the possible bias (exclusion of allergic nutrients from 
diets....) and all other arguments that you shared with me and the list; 
that helps me in building my opinion; maybe it will help me writing an "open 
letter" to the pediatrician journals -:)
