Here is an information release I received:

ACOG ISSUES NEW COMMITTEE OPINION ON BREASTFEEDING Last week the American
College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) issued a committee
opinion, Breastfeeding: Maternal and Infant Aspects," published in this
month's issue of the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology. According to the
statement, breastfeeding is the "preferred method of feeding for newborns
and infants, and nearly every woman can breastfeed her child," and ACOG
recommends that women exclusively breastfeed for at least the first six
months after giving birth. The report notes that "Women should be supported
in integrating breastfeeding into their daily lives in the community and in
the workplace, to enable them to continue breastfeeding as long as
possible." The full text of this ACOG committee opinion is available only to
subscribers. You can find out more at

Just as we do not want others to illegally access copyrighted materials, I
hope the ethical members of Lactnet will PURCHASE the documents in question
- giving us the opportunity to discuss them freely once thoroughly read...
