From the 2004 Red Book p. 68:
"Pneumococcal immunization can be given to a pregnant woman at high risk of
serious or complicated illness from infection with Streptococcus
pneumoniae."

p. 49: there are no routine immunizations that are contraindicated in
breastfeeding.

However, since most women of an age to be pregnant or breastfeeding are
young and healthy, most of them won't need pneumovax anyway.

Also, ACIP is now recommending ALL pregnant women get flu shot this winter
-- not just in 2nd or 3rd trimester.  It's safe and saves lives.  36,000
Americans died of influenza last year -- 10 times more than died in 9/11, 20
times more than have died in Iraq.
