For the mom concerned about using her pump where she might need a
converter or where there is no electric access there are a couple
options. Medela makes a pedal setup that usus the rental kit pieces.
Mom operates it with her foot and it should work similar to the
plugged-in model. Only drawback might be ankle fatigue. On the other
hand, she gets a little exercise at the same time.
Another new product that looks good to me. (Some of our group moms are
trying it). Hands Free with TLC is the name. It is a band made of
elastic that fits around mom over her opened bra. There are
"buttonhole" type openings she puts the flanges through. The flanges
are thus held snugly against her breasts and she can free her hands to
do other things while pumping or avoid fatigue from holding the pump in
place. Should be able to use it with any of the pumps. (web site:
www.handsfreewithtlc.com) I have no commercial interest in eithrer of
the products I've mentioned-just passing along observations. I'm also
intrigued by the "fit inside the bra" Whisperwear pump and am eager to
hear feedback from any of you who have tried it.
Winnie
