Coming out of lurkdom to warn folks about the Carnation formula
advertising taking place in medical offices in the U.S..

At the county health department where I work, we have one of those "CNN
Better Health Network" TV programs that turns on for the day, in the
patient waiting room, automatically. I've seen the same program at my
HMO's offices. The programs include health information about various
topics and are usually pretty good. However, they also include ads.
Months ago, I'd informed the area rep. that we couldn't accept any
programs that included formula advertising (WIC prohibits this in health
department). Last week I noticed a new program in place that advertises
Carnation formulas. Guess that's how Nestle is getting their foot in the
medical office door. I called CNN BHN back and told them the formula
adds were unacceptable and was assured that they'd be removed.

SO... if you work in a U.S. health department that has the CNN programs
that include formula advertising, you CAN have them stopped. It gave me
great pleasure to be able to tell the CNN rep. that formula advertising
in ALL health departments is UNACCEPTABLE and PROHIBITED. I'm hoping
he's wondering why... ;-)

Happy holidays to all!
