Following on from what Winnie says brings to mind a calculation our Paediatric Manager did about 8 years. She calculated how much it cost for in-patient care of a baby with gastro-enteritis, it was 1,000 POUNDS for the first 24 hours &  350 Pounds per day thereafter, the babies were in on average for 3 days which was an  average of 1,700 per baby, for me this meant if by Breastfeeding we prevented 1 baby being admitted per month that equated with my salary. More than 1 were admitted per month!!!!!!!!!!!
