True, and of course one cannot say "You may think the position's fine, but
I doubt it," because it would sound like a challenge.  What do you all tell
moms when given this response?

I usually say something like, "I may be able to improve the positioning
with a few minor adjustments, but I'd have to observe a feeding to tell.
If it's a positioning problem and I can improve the positioning, you should
start to heal right away and not suffer any further damage."  Note that I'm
trying not to promise anything, even immediate release from pain (although
that's what they often get).
