That is true at Walmart, Target, Macy's etc. Toasters, coffee pots, etc are of different quality. The seller commissions the manufacturer to produce a product at a certain pricepoint. The manufacturer has to come up with a cheaper way to make the product or lose the business. If they don't find a cheaper way, they don't make a profit and they will then be out of business. If you increase the price of a product by increasing wages and you are not allowed to raise your selling price or you can't sell the product at a higher price, your business fails and all your employees are out of a job. Basic economics people. There is no free lunch!

Subject: "insurance" pumps

I was afraid of that (lesser quality). Had been hearing some rumors. Had an interesting discussion about John Deere lawn tractors today. Seems the ones at the big box stores aren't quite the same quality as the ones at the J.D. dealers. The bottom line is money in all industry, whether it is pumps, formula or lawn tractors :-( Shame that no one sees that "saving" money, instead of moms getting help they need, really doesn't save money in the long run if a baby is unable to breastfed successfully for as long as baby needs. Sorry for the complicated sentence, but you know what I mean :-) Pat in SNJ, who just read an article about improved intelligence 30 years out for BF babies that someone kindly sent me.
