Jan quoted formula rep "Well, Jan, you know that the breastfeeding mother
is the formula company's best friend. We'll make far more money off her
than
we ever will off a woman who starts out bottle feeding."

Jan and Winnie, A RD, co-worker said they told her the same thing and it was
about that same time. He listed the reasons for that to the fact that a
breastfeeding mother wants to do the best for her baby so she starts our
breastfeeding but when she weans she will feed formula for an entire yr. If
the mother starts out fomula fding she will wean to cow's milk sooner
because it will be cheaper than the cost of the formula. I personally know a
physician who breastfed for a yr but when she weaned she used formula
because she said "it has more nutrients than whole cow's milk". She said the
extra cost was "well worth it". Keep plugging-we have a LONG way to go! I
hear you are going to get some snow today in your area while we stay dry.
Regards, Mary Ann Krainz RN, IBCLC in central WI
