Guess what? I am still an ob nurse!! I work a .3 appt. as LC and .1
evening as pp nurse. And I DO have time to help with breastfeeding!
Nurses DO have time to chat at the desk or on the phone. We are normally
assigned 3 or 4 couplets; or 2 couplets and one or 2 undelivered pts.
We have found if the baby imprints on mom's breast during the first
hour post birth, less time is spent later at the bedside coaxing the baby
to latch on.
There are lots of other problems where I work with over use of
bottles and supplements..........but I do have time to help with
breastfeeding!!
