Some background on the Jim McKenna letter in The Washington Times:
I saw the inaugural article by Rosemond in the Sunday Washington Times. I
noticed it because it replaced Dr. James Dobson's column that had appeared
for many years (Rosemond is NOT Dobson, by any means!).
I was really outraged when I read the Rosemond column.
I sent it to Jim McKenna. He suggested that I write a letter to The
Washington Times, but I felt it better to come from him.
He did indeed write the letter and had it published. It was one of the
longest letters I have ever seen in The Washington Times.
So, as Jim said to me: his letter was all my fault. I gladly take the
blame.
Frank J. Nice, DPA, CPHP
PS: By the way, I will be leaving the NIH after 23 years. I will be working
at the FDA beginning in October 2003.
I will try to keep all of you informed as to my new contact information when
I know it. It was a wonderful ride over the years at the NIH and for the
past 30 years as I served in the US Public Health Service. I hope I will be
able to remain as involved in breastfeeding as I have been over the years.
