In my previous life as an L&D nurse, I participated with the use of breast
pumps for induction(when there is ruptured membranes) or augmentation.
The mom had to have continuous monitoring to watch for fetal tolerance and
hyperstimulation.
The other thing we recommended, was for the partner to cuddle up with mom
for psuedo-foreplay. We had queen size beds.
We promised no one would open the door (it locked and only the nurse had a
key), and if we needed to come in there would be lots of knocking first.
The second plan worked better, anecdotal
evidence I realize.
