I only have a little understanding of the herpes thing. But my understanding is that mom has already been exposed by the baby, and further, had lesions herself, prior to the baby's eruptions. So what would be the point of stopping now? How would it affect a future pregnancy.

It would seem to me that the prudent route would be for mom to take acyclovar prophylactically with the next pregnancy, since she was shedding before she broke out this time, and ultimately passed it to her infant.

Or can't you take it prophylactically to prevent outbreaks?

My goodness, what an incredible learning forum Lactnet is.
Always learning about new stuff, and always learning more about things we already knew.
