I'm so frustrated now. He's only 10 months and my husband wants to try
formula. I feel like I'm poisoning him when I feed him. My almost 3 year old
is still nursing so I don't want to wean him! Babt is healthy, was born full
term (induced), gaining weight (25 pounds). He had a frenectomy ~2 months
old.

He was always gassy as a baby and we had to work hard to get the burps out.
Starting around 4 months he would get really bad at night. Burping him
really well seemed to help and I used Colic Ease gripe water when it was
bad. That seemed to get the gas out and then he would be fine. He started
sleeping longer stretches (5-7 hrs)

At 5 months things seemed to get worse. He started waking every 2 hrs again,
was teething. That's when these 2am waking started. He wakes up suddenly
screaming and twisting. They were only happening a few nights a week. We
introduced solids around 6 months. He isn't very interested and mostly
tastes things and spits them out (still at 10m)

At his 9 month visit, Dr recommended a trial of Prevacid for 2 weeks, no
improvement. Now these 2am waking are every night, some nights a few times a
night. Then he wakes up, gets crawling or pulls himself up and starts
farting. He poops (usually only once a day). Then he's fine.
We also tried doing mylicon around the clock.

Three weeks ago I took him to my DO who specializes in osteopathic
manipulation. The day before I decided to try cutting out dairy. The dr
treated him but didn't think dairy was an issue so I didn't continue. The
next day he pooped six times (some seaweed green). The following days he was
pooping 3-5 times a day. He slept great with no gas, only woke to eat for a
week. Then the gas started again.

On Tuesday I got him in to the DO's office again but saw a different dr
since mine was booked. No improvement or change in bowels following that
appointment. I've been off dairy since Monday. Last night he slept
8:30-10:30 then woke screaming w/gas. I was up with him until 12:30.
Sometimes he will comfort nurse and we can get some sleep, but I know the
gas is still in there bothering his tummy. The gas happens a few times every
night and occasionally during the day now.

I started taking an infant massage class a few weeks ago and have been
massaging his tummy. My husband is usually able to get the gas out by
bouncing him on his shoulder. Once it was out it used to settle him for the
night but now it seems his tummy stays slightly firm. We've tried bicycling
his legs, bouncing him across our laps, putting him in the tub. I put
probiotics in his sippy cup. I block feed, he usually goes 3-4 hrs during
the day.

So right now I'm struggling to stay dairy free and we are doing the mylicon.
I avoid spicy food since its seemed to bother him since he was a baby. I
would appreciate any insight. We are losing hope here!
