Hi all,
I am an IBCLC in private practice and I recently saw a 30 year-old woman who
is post kidney transplant four years ago. She is currently taking progref 2
mg bid and prednisone 2.5 mg qd.

Her baby is four months old and has been refusing the breast. Her milk
supply was low and with an SNS the baby latched well and nursed happily,
draining the SNS and the breast. Mom seems to be getting one ounce from both
breasts (total) after pumping for 15 minutes. Her nipples are pink and
appear to look pre-pregnancy. Mom has not had an appetite so her caloric
intake has been low.
The baby appears to be gaining weight and is at the 50th percentile.

Given the meds, I checked Hale's book and there was no indication that they
would be responsible for low milk supply.

Has anyone had any experience with moms post kidney transplant or on these
meds? Has anyone had any experience adding a galactogogue to someone with
this history?

Thanks for your help.
