There are 2 Pedis in my system who will NOT refer for TT on the basis that
the AAP does not support that treatment. I showed them the 2004 article
from Pediatrics and said something about experts in published study. Their
response was to the effect that "other experts" say the opposite. But they
haven't pointed me to their sources - only say they exist - and refused to
read the Pediatrics article I printed out for them.

~~~There was a study in the (pediatric, I think) dental  literature ( not
Pediatrics) that leads local pediatric dentists to disbelieve  that tongue
tie should be treated. I don't have the reference handy. Our local  chapter
New York LCA had a conference in the Fall ( thanks Susan B and others)  which
was all about challenging our biases. It was interesting to see that  some
MDs were willing to listen and revise their thinking, as well as  the IBCLCs
who were attending, while others adamantly did not. They did not even
really seem willing to have their minds opened by other MDs. The conference
point was to challenge us to consider other evidence, even if, and even
especially if it differs from what we feel we know. It becomes like "dueling
studies" I guess in this case.
