Hi!

Ten days ago I had the privilege of hosting Dr NIls Bergman and his wife
Jill here in Madrid for a full-day conference about Nurturescience and
skin-to-skin/separation zero. Also, I just now finished listening to
Raylene Phillips (MD, MA, FAAP, FABM, IBCLC) in her presentation
presentation "Building Strong Bonds: The Neurobiology of Parent-Infant
Attachment in the NICU."

I am in tears once more to see that such a LIFE SAVING, LIFE CHANGING
absolutely evidence-based and absolutely HUMAN intervention is not done in
every NICU in the world. I just don't understand it - and the years go by
(first time I listened to Dr Bergman was 2008) and I understand it less.

Thanks to Dr Bergman and other professionals´ hard work in the amazing iKMC
and IPISTOSS studies, the WHO has just released guidelines to strongly
recommend IMMEDIATE AND CONTINUOUS SKIN TO SKIN CONTACT:

WHO recommendations for care of the preterm or low birth weight infant.

I am so frustrated that this is not mainstream... I am wondering if there
is something we can do as a healthcare community to make sure this gets out
there, not only to every single HCP who works with little humans, but to
every parent also, so they know this is their right, their baby´s right to
physical, emotional and mental health and the best possible outcomes.

Blazing in Madrid...

SEPARATION ZERO!!!!!!!
