Easy - the same way my partner who has never had children and never
been exposed to the world of babies and feeding. We were talking about this
ver fact a couple days ago when I had a meltdown and was crying about the
whole thing. (I had a majorly hormonal/sleep deprived moment) She didn't
babysit as a child, she never wanted children. She grew up with bottles as
the norm - knew NOTHING about breastfeeding and the normalcy of it and the
risks of formula. She has received quite the education being with me the
past almost 2 yrs. :)
If something is not in your daily life then how can you have a clue
about it? The challenge is to get these issues into the daily life and
experience of our society as a whole. If you don't have kids or don't want
kids or aren't around them then you have no need (so to speak) to know
anything about them. But if you have them, and want them, then you do.
Look - I don't know diddley about water conservation research or its
importance for our society, what it really is all about - it isn't in my
daily life as something I do or see everyday. But one of my moms is a water
conservation researcher and she gave us quite the education about it last
week at group...
what is that old saying...out of sight, out of mind...

Warmly,

Jaye
