I got this today and wanted to share it with everyone. Seems there is
some concern about the location of the conference. Hope this helps. I
also hope it is not against the rules to do this. If it is I apologize
in advance.

Thank you,
Darlene Breed, BS, RN, IBCLC

A reminder that it's not too late for you to receive the Early Bird
Discount
for your conference registration! Just fax your registration form or
send
by mail postmarked by May 15th.

You may already know that the 16th annual conference of the International
Lactation Consultant Association will take place July 18-21 at the lovely
Acapulco Princess Resort in Acapulco, Mexico. You may not be aware of
all
of the exciting and informative learning opportunities waiting for you.
Learn more about international policy issues that affect breastfeeding
and
lactation consultants, and how to apply them in your country and practice
setting. Topics include complementary feeding, a cost-benefit analysis of
providing breastfeeding support to poor women, the Baby Friendly Hospital
Initiative, and the WHO Global Strategy for Infant Feeding, as well as
clinical presentations from our colleagues. There are also several
opportunities to learn more about marketing the IBCLC throughout the
conference!

Ad hoc special interest meetings have been arranged for those working in
the
international policy arena and those developing employer supported
breastfeeding programs. If you are attending the conference and
interested
in organizing an ad hoc meeting, please contact Wendy Hanavan, director
of
conference services, at [log in to unmask]

We are introducing the Conference Colleague Program at this year's
conference. This is designed to match up conference newcomers with
experienced attendees. What a great opportunity to network and make new
friends!

Free time on Friday afternoon gives you a chance to explore Acapulco's
wonderful sights, shopping opportunities, and fun activities. Saturday
night there will be a "Fiesta Mexicana" where conference attendees may
partake in a festive evening including an authentic Mexican buffet
dinner,
vendors selling Mexican arts and crafts, and a lively Marimba band.

Conference Travel Ltd., ILCA's designated travel agency, has set up
discounted fares with several major carriers. For information and
reservations please call them at 1-800-448-6989. Why not consider
arriving
early or staying beyond the conference and making a vacation of it??

The Acapulco Princess is a safe, luxurious resort owned by Canadian
Pacific
Hotels (the same company that owns the Scottsdale Princess Resort, site
of
past ILCA conferences). The Princess is located only 5-10 minutes from
the
Acapulco International Airport. The Princess has its own water treatment
plant on site, so you do not have the worries that you might have at
other
locations consuming water, ice, or fresh fruits and vegetables.

For those of you connecting through Mexico City, we have arranged for
greeters to meet incoming flights and escort conference participants to
their connecting gates. Mexico City is a well-laid out convenient
airport,
and you should not have concerns above and beyond those that you would
have
in any U.S. City Airport.

So fax that registration form in and join us for this exciting
conference!
