As a followup:
Our (new) current hospital standing orders has 2 age categories for
screening. One is over age 65 and the other is ages 19-64.

The standing orders for age 19-65 has criteria that will affect the
population of new breastfeeding mothers. "Vaccine is indicated if any of
the following apply:
1. Serious long term health problems with heart or lung disease (including
asthma), diabetes mellitus, or kidney disease including nephritic syndrome.
2. Sickle cell anemia or prior splenectomy"
There are other criteria listed, but they probably won't apply to most of
our breastfeeding mothers.

note: From the link Katherine Shealy sent, the CDC recommendations for
Pneumovax use for ages 2-64 specifcally state "chronic pulmonary disease
(COPD, emphysema, but not asthma)". I have brought this to the attention of
others up the chain of command to see if they might remove asthma as an
indicator.
