anne,
I just had to laugh.  That's me quite a bit nowadays... especially when my
(really wonderful, smiling) 21-month-old son does the nipple thing.  Ya
know, when they poke and pull and do all sorts of creative things with
them.  Drives me nuts.

But I do agree that this "touched out" feeling is only one of many feelings
that mothers feel as they parent their children.  On the opposite end of
the spectrum is the wonderful warm feeling one gets when her child looks
lovingly into her eyes as they sit (or lie) nursing.  I only wish mine
would just stop that nipple thing! ;-).
