The longevity data comes from a company employee. I will not say more, I 
don't want to cost the individual their job.

Medela does not recommend this pump for mothers pumping full time. I 
think that's a responsible position to take. Any pump can work for some 
moms (I've seen moms maintain a full milk supply with some of the most 
awfully designed pumps imaginable. But they are the rare exceptions. 
Most moms I see using the wrong pump for the job suffer a declining milk 
production over time.

I think our practice settings and length of follow up inform our 
professional opinions. I see people having difficulty, and I follow many 
of them long term. I've had significant numbers of moms in my practice 
pump for 1 to 2 *years* while caring for babies with significant medical 
problems (clefts, genetic disorders). Almost all of them saw a 
difference in milk yield when they tried to use a less expensive pump 
(Pump In Style, Lactina, Purely Yours) rather than their metal piston 
full size brandmates, and milk production improved when switching back.
