I wrote last week about a nine day old with a 7% wt. loss that didn't seem
to correlate with the abundant diaper count that Mom had recorded.  Thanks
Kathy for your response!  It helped me to hear your comment because I had
suspected that the baby's wt. might actually be increasing and we just
didn't have a wt. to prove it. It encouraged me to hear that seemed possible
to you too.

The baby was given about 1 oz of formula after nursing if he would take it.
Once, it caused him to spit up his entire feed because he became overfull.
The pediatrician was happy to see the wt. gain of 4 oz. in 4 days.

Because this baby is very sleepy at the breast requiring 45 minutes of
nursing to get 1.5 oz. of breastmilk, I've suggested they try switch nursing
for a couple days to keep this little guy alert. I'll see them again
tomorrow and hope that his wt. will continue to climb.
