I am stumped on this one, and hoping some of you might have ideas or
insight. I am a mother of triplets born in Dec. 1998. I nursed them for
over a year, the last one weaned at 16 months when I was again pregnant. At
my nursing peak, I was producing about 15 ounces at each feeding based on
what I would get when I occasionally pumped while separated from the
children. Menses returned around 10 months. My 4th child, second
pregnancy, was born in Dec of 2000. I produce about 4 -6 ounces when I
occasionally have need to pump. Menses returned at 5 months despite
exclusive nursing.

Nothing I have read indicates that menstruation would start sooner with
second or third singleton pregnancies. Could it be possible since I am only
producing 1/3 of what I produced for triplets that my body does not know I
am exclusively nursing, therefore an early return of menstruation?

I'd be interested in any thoughts or ideas on this.

Thanks in advance,
Anne Nans, RN, IBCLC
