But posset in this meaning is breastfeeding related. My ''Wolter's dictionary
English-Dutch'' says: posset ['posit] hoty milk with wine, etc. (such as
kandeel)''.  Kandeel (pr.: the a as in far and the ee as ai in rail) is a
traditonal liquorlike mixture with the consistency of Bailey's, made of milk,
eggs, brandy (or something like that), sugar, cinnamom and I think anise (not
sure about the last) It was traditionally made for new moms in the early pp
days to restrengthen her and built her milksupply. Visitors who came to
congratulate and see the baby were served a glass as well.
