Hi Martina,
I've got my ex career as an ag scientist hat on now....milk is sold based on
an equation involving volume and protein or fat level. Adding melamine to
milk adds nitrogen (which is measured as an indicator as protein). Thus
producers can add water to milk to increase the volume and mantain nitrogen
levels with added nitrogen via melamine. Very nasty!

I admit I hadn't so much free time to follow all the dozens of news in
these days. A collegue and I had some thought about the Sanlu milk and
I'd like to hear your opinion.

In our HO the melamine issue is only the top of the iceberg.

Given that the formula from cow's milk has TOO MUCH proteins and needs to be
manufactured for reduce their rate, I wonder FROM WHAT fluid is arranged the
Sanlu formula, as it needed to be **enriched** in "proteins" (or
simulating-protein substances)?
Very diluited cow milk?
What else?

Maybe we lost a part of the story....
