Dear Friends:
    Jeanette asks about the evidence supporting this  recommendation. I 
remember reading a list of ways to make artificial feeding  more similar to 
breastfeeding that included this suggestion; this was someone's  opinion, not 
evidence. The list included doing infant massage (to make up for  the stroking a 
breastfeeding mother does during feeds),  and keeping track  of all the lot 
numbers of human milk substitutes used (in case of  recalls).
    However, it doesn't hurt to do.
