My son had his tonsils out when he was 2 and 1/2 years. I chose a doctor
with a very good reputation both with physicians as well as the client. This
Pediatric ENT knew I was breastfeeding--I am a little vocal. I was
certainly never told not to breastfeed (it never even occurred to me that
this could be an issue) and we most definately had no complications post-op.
What this tells me is that there is certainly no "RULE" or significant
evidence about whether or not a infant can be breastfed post-op. This mother
will have to make a decision. On choice it is to simply get a second
opinion.
