When my brother was born in 1950, the doctor pulled some scissors out of his
pocket in the delivery room, and without a word to my mother, clipped his
frenulum. No sterile technique, no permission, no explanation. My mother
said she screamed and said "what are you doing?" and the doctor said he had
to do this if she was going to breastfeed.

One of my children was also tongue tied, and two of my grandchildren so far.
A third had a tight labial frenulum.

We see a LOT of tongue tied babies where I work as well.
