It seems like to me that the mom needed help to encourage her child to go
with other people while she worked or took a break. She obviously had a
hard time getting someone to watch her child for her because the baby was
attached to her and none of the sitters wanted to practice that type of
mothering style on her child or they could not convince the child that
everything was going to be fine.

I wonder if too much was done too soon by the mother to detach this child
from her as she appears to be regretting it. She senses the unnaturalness
of this and is very confused as to what's the best thing to do without
compromising her most important goal, to be able to send her child to a
baby sitter while she works or goes someplace.

She could always try breastfeeding again. He already knows how to take a
bottle from someone else, so the original goal might not become compromised
when she nurses again. Maybe letting someone else send him to the sitter
would help if he starts to have separation anxiety again and if mom starts
to feel guilty.

What I don't like is the fact that the sitter is getting paid to watch over
her child and should know that separation anxiety comes with the
territory. I also find that too many sitters believe that holding a child
spoils them. I can understand if they're busy, but that's part of the job.

Mental note - never hire a sitter that has too many young children and/or
don't believe in holding a crying child.

I really hope that she nurses again, that is if the child still wants to.
