Another reason for a baby who was latching initially and becomes 
frustrated and stops attempting is less than optimal anatomy 
(tongue-tie, small mandible, etc). The breast is soft right after the 
birth, and becomes firmer as secretory activation progresses. This makes 
it more challenging for babies who have anatomical challenges of any 
type. Some babies will keep trying, others start crying as soon as they 
see/feel/smell the breast. Making the breast easier to grasp often 
improves baby's willingness to try in these cases.
