I have worked in 4 different hospitals as an IBCLC and am not a RN. I am
considered part of the OB staff, full time status (most of the time) and a
regular staff member. It is not a requirement, JCAHO or otherwise (only
institution based) to be a RN to be IBCLC. In fact, at my last job I was part
of the nursing leadership team and a program manager.
