Dear wise ones,
Someone asked me if the breastfeeding pattern of a child could be a factor in the lipase activity in pumped and stored milk. Does frequent emptying vs infrequent emptying have a noticable effect on lipase levels and/or activty? The question came up upon discussion the fact that not all moms experience that their milk gets rancid or bitter or otherwise off-taste. Some only notive it in frozen and thawed milk, others within hours of pumping without freezing. I can't find it in the archives, only discussions of the taste change itself there.

Warmly,
Gonneke,
