Dear Friends:

My understanding is that the WHO Code is updated every few years. Chris
Mulford posted about this on another list and has given her permission to
repost this paragraph:

"Just a technical note about the Code. The WHA discusses the Code every
other year in Geneva and adopts resolutions to update it, to close
unanticipated loopholes, and to address new situations, such as Enterobacter
Sakazakii in powered formula. Pumps are not covered by the Code, but bottles
and teats are. It is probably Medela's bottles and/or teats that got them
listed as non-compliant. The Code is about marketing directly to the
public…it is legitimate to sell all of the items under the Code What is not
supposed to happen are the free samples, cut-price sales, coupons, free or
low-cost supplies given out through the healthcare system (hospitals,
clinics, physicians' offices, and WIC), plus advertising directly to women
and families."

 warmly,
